In this context,we aimed toexamine the currentstatus and the potential of Istanbul to become an international financial centre. Inorder to reach the aim of the study, firstly,the characteristics of an internationalfinancial centre have been explained and a brief overview ofthe Turkishgovernment’sofficial plans of development of theinternational financial centrehavebeen given. Then,the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats ofIstanbul havebeen analyzed.Finally,we have made assessments and put forwardsome suggestions. |
