Summary: | The paper offers a collection including all literary sources so far known, suggesting a possible connection between Giotto and the Avignon’s Papal court. Every valid theory so far formulated, is based on the Ottimo Commento to the Dante’s Commedia, which arguably deserves a critical edition. More undervalued by the historians is a passage in a Petrarca’s epistle, which by the way, makes the theory of an activity linked to Avignon even more credible. |
