The ups and downs of border policy is explained by the various projects of the people and authorities of Buenos Aires as well as internal situations of indigenous peoples. As the other side of this process, the increasing pressure of state power over Indian territory led the indigenous leaders to take different strategies for engaging with government. The hypothesis of the work is that the inability and / or ineffectiveness by the government to carry out an aggressive expansion on indigenous territory led to the need to negotiate with indigenous the territorial advance. For the Indian side, the same inability to stop the advance warlike provincial biases have led some to accept the conditions imposed by the government as living in Buenos Aires integrating the new space frontier. The space of negotiation between, on the one hand, authorities and residents of the frontier and on the other, various indigenous groups -throughout the study period- marked both diplomatically and everyday life. In the latter sense we propose to set up in the border area a metis culture, a "middle ground" between the indigenous society and Creole society, combining cultural elements of the two companies in contact giving rise to a differentiated society.http://journals.openedition.org/corpusarchivos/879frontierinterethnic relationscultural brokers |
