Description
Summary:Some ancient Greek authors developed oxymoronic images of suckling old men and senescent infants, assigning positive and / or negative values to them. These images appear in texts dealing with the End of a World (at a time of natural disaster) or the permanent End of the World at periods when the cosmos speeds up and unheard-of havoc is wrought. These patterns can be understood to be part of the adynaton theme, often present in these myths where they are prodromes of the inconceivable mayhem that the gods – or God – unleash upon the universe.
