Summary: | Bullying is a form of violence between peers, very common in the school environment. The
objective of this research was to verify the prevalence of bullying aspects among students of a public
school in the Federal District, as well as to reveal students' feelings about bullying. This is an experience
report with adolescent students of a public school. The sampling was for convenience and the data
collection took place in the first semester of 2011. For analysis of the quantitative data was used the
distribution of frequencies, and analysis of the content for the qualitative data. Thirty-nine students
participated in the study, of which 40% had already been bullied, 37.5% by several times and 62.5% of
bullying cases occurred in the classroom. Most of the bullies were male, 56.5% of the victims suffered
verbal violence. Half of the interviewees reported that they were also aggressors. Students have revealed
that bullying creates negative feelings and should be tackled more safely in schools. The prevalence of
bullying was high and students did not perceive the school as a place to prevent violence and promote a
culture of peace.
