Summary:The purpose of the present work was to evaluate the effect of the surplus fat supplementation on the fertility and production of mestizo cows with foot breeding in the Province of Manabí, Cantón Flavio Alfaro, of the Las Cañas Site. 30 mestizo cows were used under the free grazing system, from 2 to 5 deliveries, with a body condition at birth of 3.2 to 3.4; without any reproductive pathologies, they were distributed in 3 treatments (10 animals per treatment) supplemented with excess fat: treatment 1 (0 gr); treatment 2 (300gr) and treatment 3 (500gr). Milk production was evaluated every day until 60 days after delivery, every 15 days the production controls were performed, every 15 days the measurement of body condition was performed; from 15 days before delivery, until 60 days after delivery.
