The examples given are those which the Italian Army Engineer Corps used in the last two World Wars. The fact that there is a complex network of both fixed and mobile dovecotes on Italian soil is explained; capable of fulfilling the need of communication in wartime which is still usable when all the other systems of communications fail and also give a historical idea of the most ancient systems of organizations for the defense of the territory.</span></p>http://www.tria.unina.it/index.php/tria/article/view/1794comunicazionecolombaiedifesa
