Although discussion about the quality of life a pet-owner must provide for his pets is not finished, the consensus is that an animal must be afforded as natural a lifestyle as possible, has to be kept from enduring and strong negative emotions (fear, pain, etc.), being offered at the same time a maximum of natural pleasures and ensuring satisfactory health and growth as well as normal functioning of physiological and behavioural systems.
