Therefore, I traced a pathway of manipulation of several sources, such as, 1940 criminal proceedings, which dealt with 19th century legal provisions. Thus, I was able to identify that the imagetic-discursive arsenal created about Codó, with respect binding, mainly the binding of the city to religions of African origin, coming from a long process of stereotyping of subjects and practices. In the 19th century, the science, the press and the police created an ideological and a social mechanisms of distinction and persecution about the practice of "healing". In this sense, seeking to analyze these mechanisms, I present a criminal process that deals with the crime of “officio de curandeiro” and newspaper articles that published about “pagés”, in order to analyze the relationship between these speeches and those produced by Academy that formulated stereotypes - about practices, and representations - about the city. http://www.periodicoseletronicos.ufma.br/index.php/terradepretos/article/view/15230curestereotypessciencerepresentations
