Summary:This study tried to identify the profile of persons that participates of a Familiar Planning Program in a Basic Unit of Health and to relate the use of the contraceptive methods in the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD). Exploratorys research was developed in a Basic Unit of Health in the city of Guarulhos (SP). The questionnaire was applied to 22 per sons of a group of familiar planning on the use of the contraceptive method of barrier in the prevention of STD. Reporting the sample, 96% were of the feminine sex, 37% were aged between 21 and 30 years old and 51 % had not the basic education. 60% of the interviewed ones do not used contraceptive method of barrier for STD prevention. The main reasons to not use the barrier method had been the allegiance of the partner, and they no matter about prevention of STD but the biggest concern is with the contraception and not with the safe sex practice. At last we conclude that still there is absence of information and orientation regarding on the contraception with safe sex and that orientation strategies must be created to revert this situation.
