Description
Summary:The present paper is focused on a novel way of visual representation of the signal’s spectrum, in the so called 3D frequency domain. In the beginning, a brief introduction to the theory and practice of the spectral analysis is provided, along with criticism of the classical amplitude and phase spectrum visualization. Further, a novel 3D-spectrum representation is proposed and described that allows simultaneous and unambiguous visualization of the both amplitude and phase spectrum of a signal and some considerations concerning the attaining of better visual perception of the plot are exposed. Finally, examples are given in order to clarify the proposition, along with its possible applications.
