Summary: | In the teaching process of future actors and puppeteers – 21st century artists – the study of the Ancient Greek Th eatre is essential, because through it the past meets the present by means of the tragic. It contains, therefore, a fundamental actuality characteristic of every period of inequities, transformations, wars, migrations, death, in short – despair, the basic feeling that defi nes the human tragic condition. In the representation of the human being the mask and the marionette are tragic and, at the same time, magic substitutes that underline the human condition. Humanity is either a puppet handled by Destiny or a superior being that reveals himself as a tragic mask wearer that doubles his own face and separates him from himself and from the others. Our workshop performance has two goals: to search for new means and, at the same time, to train the student to fi nd new voices, words, body movements and work with the specifi c means, the mask and the marionette. |
