Summary: | In the [following] article - an excerpt from the essay Politica e teologìa nell’arte cinese contemporanea. Riflessioni ai margini dell’opera dì Wang Guangyi - Huang Zhuan analyzes Wang Guangyi’s work from the series that made him known in the international contemporary art scene (Great Criticism), up to his latest installation (Things-in-Themselves). By comparing and contrasting his works and Western Pop Art — most notably Andy Warhol’s - while also examining his thought in the light of the Western philosophical tradition, the author defines the peculiar traits and themes of Wang Guangyi’s “unorthodox Pop” and clarifies the core theoretical issues behind it. |
