Summary: | Attitudes of students who used Anadolu University central library were examined by means of a questionnaire, which was applied to 353 students. The results indicate that five factors (being expressed through 13 items) had substantial effects on book choice. They were the kinds of cover and paper being used, characteristics of dimensions and writing style, drawings and pictures, shape and colour of the cover, and the table of contents and references. The results indicated that kind of cover and paper, and drawings within the text were statistically significant in determining the selection of book genres. Findings also comprised that book gender and academic study areas affect the choices concerning table of contents and references. Conclusions that might be drawn are apt to imply clues for publishers on matters that attract attention by the production of a new book.
