Summary: | Based a reflection about the different approaches of science popularization of the XX century we propose a new role that should be achieved in the present, when the society fastly appropriates new technologies. An analogy between European society of the XVIII century questions is presented with present environmental impact questions due to the continuous consumption is presented. We propose that knowledge socialization is the purpose of science popularization. This knowledge socialization is understand as an integration process of the citizen in the society, leading to conducts, behaviors and attitudes as a function of habits, norms and beliefs originated in the social group identity. This new role of science popularization characterizes a technological contract.
