Summary: | The literature has presented many supplier segmentation models and multicriteria assessments; however, these
models do not address the characteristics of micro and small enterprises (MSE), which have scarce resources and
seek management tools with a large marginal contribution. The objective of this study is to propose a supplier
segmentation model and assessment to address the requirements of MSE’s and to illustrate its practicability
through a case study in a small furniture manufacturer. The results showed that the model’s direct benefits do
not represent large marginal contributions, but the indirect benefits and the structuration process developed
contribute to important consensual decisions and actions for the growth of these organizations.
