Summary: | The food industry constantly attempts to improve its production processes in order to develop products with higher value added and lower cost. One of the solutions to this is to use the value analysis method. Given this scenario, this paper aims to perform a value analysis of the production processes of a line of products in the food industry in order to generate knowledge to improve such processes. For that, a qualitative and exploratory case study was performed. The results reveal that the most important process of the object of this study was to ‘pack the powder’ and that such a process generates the so-called ‘empty cartridge’ fault. In addition, the results show the possible optimization of the
production process through the automation of the process that produces the ‘empty cartridge’ failure. Therefore, this study presents the knowledge obtained with the value analysis performed in a food industry company, with the hope that companies in this sector have a clearer look at the benefits that
can be achieved through the use of value analysis method for process improvement production and to reduce production costs.
