In this paper, the wear performance of five carbon brushes with different copper contents at two types of temperatures was discussed. The tests were carried out on a pin-disc type wear tester with a heating system. The results show there is a critical copper content that affects the friction performance of carbon brushes by influencing the integrity of the friction film.
