Starting with the analysis of a series of critical reviews and the anthology of poetry of the nineties La tendencia materialista, edited by Kesselman, Mazzoni and Selci, the article discloses the theoretical assumptions of a linear conception of literary evolution. According to this conception, "the new" in literature is given by the immediate representation of current changes in the socio-political field, since it is assumed that literary consciousness can and should be in synchrony with its "reality". To this conception of the relationship between literature, society, and present time can be opposed another one (an untimely and anachronistic conception) that promotes re-readings and reissues of literary magazines (Contorno, Literal, Los Libros) and key authors of the sixties and seventies as an active intervention on its present. As an example of this tendency, the recent editions of the work of David Viñas are discussed in more detail.http://journals.openedition.org/lirico/2123politics of reeditionrereadingcriticismrecent pastDavid Viñas
