Summary:The objective of this article is to provide some information about the recent results of a breeding program for earlymaize improvement. Themain characteristics of eight newinbred lines developed from alternative heterotic groups of germplasm are presented. These inbreed lines have been included as parental forms of five new hybrids with the index of maturity FAO 160-270 in order to be cultivated in the areas where season length is limited.
