Description
Summary:Guidelines and Consequences of the Qur'aan Commenter's use of the knowledge of different revealed methods of recitation. This is a practical study in which the researcher focused upon examples through which principles and conditions are deduced which are used to guide the Qur'aanic commentator's knowledge of the different methods of recitation. Through this study, one comes to realize the importance of these principles, and the commentator's need of them to regulate and guide his task, which is to clarify the intent of Qur'aanic verses. The study also clarifies that neglecting these principles results in errors in explaining various verses of the Qur'aan, of which one is rejecting some revealed methods of recitation which have been narrated by number so large that it can not be incorrect (mutaawaatir). It may also result in the commentator explaining a verse with a weaker (shaadh) method of recitation whose meaning contradicts the meaning of a recitation which is mutawaatir, the commentator not taking into regard the lithamani transcription of the Qur'aan when expounding on verses, and judging that some commentators contradict each other in explaining some verses, due to each one doing so according to a specific revealed method of recitation. The study also makes clear that a commentator's employment of his knowledge of the different revealed methods of recitation play an important role in clarifying and expounding the correct meanings of Qur'aanic verses, and ward off imaginary problems which may arise from time to time in understanding the correct meaning of a verse. The researcher believed this to be an important subject, and that a deep-rooted and theoretical study of some of its cases is needed aside from this practical study, which the researcher only sought that it be a step forward in the subject of confirming the practical relationship between the Qur'aanic commentator and his sources, of which the most important is the knowledge of the different revealed methods of recitation.
