Psychosciences and the Governance of Subjectivity

This paper is an analysis of the disciplinarization process of the psychosciences and the manner in which they has been embedded into the practices of the governance of the subjects in western civilization. This research was conducted using a historical and critical approach based on Foucauldian genealogy. Conclusions: the medical model has influenced the psychosciences to the point of causing them to be strongly concerned with giving a corporeal form to psychological life. These sciences became disciplines as a result of the concerns of the biopolitics of the people. For this reason, they quickly became supporting knowledge for the governance of the subjects and societies. Psychoanalysis densified family, personal history and the psychological space of people through the notion of internal world. The psychosciences of the twentieth century were influenced by the tension regarding the internal world and the psychological space. These scientific disciplines have become the most important source for the truth and regulation systems in the matters concerning humanity and subjectivation in western civilization.
