Description
Summary:Using the theory of framing processes in collective action, this article examines the campaign of delegitimization of republican regime addressed by political and journalistic spokesmen of the anti-liberal right during the spring of 1936 in two issues closely linked in the mind of Spanish conservatism of the thirties: the regime’s inability to solve the problem of public order and its role as a prelude to a revolutionary communist uprising. These processes of framing were a key to achieve the broad-based mobilization that gave coverage to the military coup of July 18 and then to legitimize the Franco’s regime.
