Description
Summary:„Stadt ohne Gewähr“: Vienna in the story The Thirtieth Year by Ingeborg Bachmann   The article analyzes the image of Vienna in the life and works of a famous 20th century Austrian writer I. Bachmann on the basis of her story The Thirtieth Year (Das dreißigste Jahr). It underlines the ambivalent attitude of the author and the main character of the story towards the city of their youth and regards it as the dominant characteristic of the text. The past, which reminds of itself especially with the bothersome and all-knowing figure of Moll, does not allow the protagonist to establish communication with Vienna, which in turn affects the overall reception of the city.
