| Summary: | This article approaches the theme of historic conscience, state and ethno-cultural identity in the Republic of Moldova which has been confrunting with a profound identity crisis. The author makes a distinction between Moldovenism (“moldovenism”), presented as a manifestation of an identity crisis and as a continuation of the de-nationalization and rusification of the Moldovians, and Moldovenity (“moldovenitate”), which, as a bi-dimensional construction, has valencies and unfailing resources.
