Description
Summary:This article approaches the theme of historic conscience, state and ethno-cultural identity in the Republic of Moldova which has been confrunting with a profound identity crisis. The author makes a distinction between Moldovenism (“moldovenism”), presented as a manifestation of an identity crisis and as a continuation of the de-nationalization and rusification of the Moldovians, and Moldovenity (“moldovenitate”), which, as a bi-dimensional construction, has valencies and unfailing resources. Defined as a opening in both ways - both locally, and to the Romanian civilization – Moldovenity, in opinion of the author, can be an important element for bypassing the identity impass.
