Summary: | The present paper intends to investigate the relevance of education on death in the medical, nursing and psychology courses, as well as the preparation of their students to deal with death as related to the profession of their choice. The method used was the analysis of content, as described by Bardin (2002), performed on the subjects that make up the curriculum of the respective courses. Additionally an open question was proposed to a sample of those students to verify their level of preparation to deal with death concerning its relation with the contents learned during the graduation course. According to the results, we conclude that death is a subject still not much mentioned in the education of future doctors, nurses and psychologists. Although students are aware that sooner or later they will have to face death, their graduation courses are definitely not contributing for that moment. |
