Summary:The paper discusses the problem of chronic osteomyelitis from the positions that are either circumvented or not taken into account by practitioners. Microbiological, clinical, pharmacological, pathomorphological and pathophysiological aspects of the inflammatory process of bone tissue are presented. The review also outlines the immunological features of the chronic osteomyelitis course, as well as a contemporary view on this disease as an interdisciplinary problem.
