Despite the collapse of the USSR, the Soviet past interest in zalyschayetsya. We analyze how these events are perceived by modern youth, what’s the difference between social memory of groups of people who grew up in the Soviet Union, and young people who grew up in an independent Ukraine. It is important identifying features of social memory among its various business vehicles, especially among representatives of different generations. Undoubtedly, a huge influence on the formation of the attitude to the soviet past in young people provide modern communication channels. In the West, Centre and East Ukraine there are differences in the mentality of the population. These differences apply to komomeratyvnu component mentality. According to the hypothesis of the study, socio­historical memory of people of different regions of the soviet past is seen differently. These differences and became subject of empirical research.
