Summary:Drastic and rapid climate changes causes water deficit condition (abiotic stress) in plants and alter growth and developmental processes. Salicylic acid (a plant growth regulator) a phenolic compound, is an essential signal molecule which is responsible for inducing tolerance for both biotic and abiotic stress. It accelerates restoration of growth and developmental process due to elicitor action of the synthesis of secondary metabolites. The aim of this review is to understand the efficacy of salicylic acid during drought stress at various morpho-physiological and biochemical processes on medicinal plants.
