Various issues arise through the comparative analysis of these situations together with a series of songs. Using the idea of “travel,” I critically compare a series of parallel and interrelated movements commonly considered part of the “(New) Latin American Song.” The goal is to generate debate on the poetic and musical ways of articulating traditions, identities (national, local, regional, Latin American) and representations of class and race – among others – and ideologies in different historical contexts.http://journals.openedition.org/nuevomundo/67824Latin American songcritical comparisonrepresentation |
