Summary: | This article substantiates the relevance of studying the issue of transit economic relations of Azerbaijan with other countries, including European ones. Based on the analysis of energy transit abroad, it is concluded that there are great achievements in this field of foreign economic relations. Transactions were concluded for the production, transportation and sale of oil and gas, legislative acts were adopted, including at the international level, to expand transit transactions and operations between countries of the region. Future transit transactions are anticipated, taking into account the prospects for cooperation, with China, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Iran, etc. At the same time, the priority remains the activity of oil and gas transit to European countries. Based on this, there is a need to improve the legislative framework in this area, and to review political priorities. This is due to global economic crises, with lower oil prices, with the need to develop the non-oil sector in the country. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, the points of view of experts in the field of transport and economic communications, the idea of the need for further, more active use of potential in the field of transit communications is substantiated.
