Applications of these materials include creation of skin, blood vessels, cartilage scaffolds, and nanosystems for drug delivery. These biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles enhance properties such as bioavailability and stability, and provide controlled release of bioactive compounds. This review evaluates the classification, synthesis, degradation mechanisms, and biological applications of the biodegradable polymers currently being studied as drug delivery carriers. In addition, the use of nanosystems to solve current drug delivery problems are reviewed. Keywords: biodegradable polymers, nanoparticles, drug delivery, cellular uptake, biomedical applicationshttp://www.dovepress.com/critical-evaluation-of-biodegradable-polymers-used-in-nanodrugs-a14065 |
