Summary:Diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM 2) is patology of high prevalence andgreat repercusion in public health, and it´s been diagnosed late inthe natural histoty of the disease. At the moment, it is been givengreater relevance to the disfunction of beta cells since the beginingof the disease without leaving apart the periferic insulin resistancethat is already known. The progresive failure of these pancreatic cells leads to a poor glicemic control with an early use of inslin therapy. In these article it´s presented in a simple way the function of insulin therapy in DM 2, indications, insulin dosification metods, adverse effects and wished goals for glicemic control in diabetic patients
