PROSPECTS OF ECOLOGICAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN BARGUZINSKY RESERVE

Basing on an analysis of recreational resources, the paper describes the prospects for development of eco-tourism in the Barguzinsky Reserve. The paper emphasizes the importance of competent territorial planning and management of specially protected natural territories. The author describes the priority objectives for the reserve staff, and the challenges that must be addressed taking into account the risk of ecological tourism development. The paper presents examples of projects to develop tourism infrastructure and emphasizes that the development of eco-tourism in protected natural areas, subject to the competent territorial planning and management, can make a significant contribution to: 1) the protection of natural systems; 2) socio-economic development, and 3) increasing the general level of environmental education and culture of tourists and the local population. It is noted that the concept of a competent use natural resources, based on the principles of minimizing recreational impacts on the natural and socio-cultural environment, enables preserving the integrity of natural systems and ensuring the balance of recreational, ecological, economic and social interests.
