This article begins with the study of the initial difficulties encountered by the Hermandad in Seville because of the opposition of Enrique de Guzmán, Duke of Medina Sidonia. It continues with the study of the financing of the institution –donations and taxes– both in Seville and its surrounding territory (alfoz).
