Description
Summary:The present article was structured in three sections. The first one focuses on medical care within hospital wards and at patient’s home. The second one refers to hygienic conditions and hospital building, and the third section deals with the so called “special” hospitals and health centres. Along these sections a panoramic view of main problems at the Spain of XIX century is drawn as well as discussions dealt with improving care conditions. Prestigious opinions from medical and other highly prised society sectors of that century have been analyzed; other authors and less famous specialists have also been taken into consideration; PhDs, Public Health treaties of those years which studied the above mentioned aspects have been considered as well while for some reason or other not much attention as bibliography data sources gathered at the time.
