Summary:In the present work, the effect of magnetic field on double diffusive natural convection in a cubic cavity filled with a binary mixture is numerically studied using the finite volume method. Two vertical walls are maintained at different temperatures and concentrations. The study is focused on the determination of the entropy generation due to heat and mass transfer, fluid friction and magnetic effect. The influence of the magnetic field on the three-dimensional flow, temperature and concentration fields, entropy generation and heat and mass transfer are revealed. The main important result of this study is that the increase of Hartmann number damped the flow and homogenized the entropy generation distribution in the entire cavity.
