Summary:The article depicts the history of intellectual dialogue between teacher and student (V. I. Gerrier and M. S. Korelin). Purpose — to collect additional material for the study of the «Guerrier school,» — the special community of the historians of the Moscow University. The author comes to the conclusion that Gerrier regarded Korelin as a successor to his scientific tradition and after his successor death in fact was «childless», despite the large number of students in Russian universities and abroad.
