| Summary: | Described in its literal meaning, the term linguistics can simply be applied and defined as the scientific study of language. This involves the different ways and dimensions through the help of which the use of language as sound and as well as language is used in relation to the terms that comprise the crux of a language, the pronunciations of the words that are commonly used in a language and the dialects that are applied in the language (Bergen and Zinken, 2008). At the same time the science also highlights and studies the cultural contexts and influences that develop on a certain language over the passage of time and the ways through which a language undergoes the different stages of evolution at different phases of time.
