Description
Summary:Aim. To actualize the category "equinox point" in the literary, scientific turnover, to analyze the works of L. Tolstoy "The Death of Ivan Ilyich" and M. Gorky "Blue Life". To reveal the relationship of the heroes-personalities' intentions at the "point of the equinox" with a noble deed and self-transcendence. Methodology. The primary method of work is a comparative analysis of works of art to determine the "equinox point" as an architectonically significant component of the structure. Since the heroes of the works being analyzed are subjects of the compositional structure, we can say that to understand the work's integrity and the role of the "equinox" in it, and we focus on dialogue as a method proposed by M. Bakhtin. Results. The interrelation of works is established in changing the narrative point of view and resolving the architectonic whole with the "equinox point." The "equinox point" is the boundary between character and personality, and from personality to character. The need for the hero-personality for self-transcendence is revealed. Research implications. The study confirms that the formation of meaning and self-transcendence is a necessary quality of the hero-personality. The generalization of the features of L. Tolstoy and M. Gorky, when they create the image of a hero-personality in the process of self-transcendence, allows us to conclude that the problem of overcoming an existential crisis was one of the most important issues at the turn of the late 19 - early 20th centuries, its solution is proposed through the maximum rapprochement of the hero and the reader through the "point of view" and improperly direct speech; which in turn allows us to speak of dialogue as a method of artistic reflection of the inner world of a work. This study makes it possible to draw a parallel between the creative activities of Russian literature's classics.
