Summary: | This paper describes the formalization and application of a compositional system, called SIMILARE, which articulates microstructure and macrostructure based on similarity relations among pitch-class sets. After a detailed examination of the two references that give theoretical support to the work (compositional systems and similarity), the system was defined and, from it, two works were planned: one for string quartet and other for solo piano. During the research process, Python applications were designed to assist composers in manipulating sets. |
