| Summary: | This article is dedicated to exploring the sociopolitical implications of the concept of “informatics monoculture”. The standardization of cultural practices based on the dissemination of digital technologies leads to a concept of universality which is implicit in the wide acceptance of the computer as a fundamental tool of human culture. This universality is seen as part of the hegemony of capitalism, with its presumption of a “cult of quantitative efficiency”. The example of permaculture is used here to illustrate a counterhegemonic movement. |
