Summary: |
Over the last decade, a growing interest of the landscape design debate on transportation infrastructures planning and design can be detected. While other issues, as major railway stations and streets have been widely considered, the ordinary transit stops are still considered from a technical point of view, and their function, value and potentialities in shaping the urban landscape are largely underestimated. Assuming the liveability of transit stops as an expression of the synergistic union of functional aspects with a balanced insertion into the urban context, that in its turn produces an influence on the quality of the urban landscape and on modal choice, the article focuses on some design proposals and realised projects.
