Summary:Every year thousands of tourists use the city of Calais as a crossing point before going to England. But the same city has also been for now 20 years a place where migrants arrested at the border stay put, incapable of leaving Calais for England before another several months. They live in squats or camps in the town. Over the years several groups of neighbours mobilize to close or to move squats and humanitarian places for migrants. We will focus on the discourses and practices of these groups and try to understand on which basis it (re)produce a social and spatial border in the town.
