Coronary artery ectasia or aneurysms may develop in 15% to 25% of untreated children and may lead to sudden death or ischemic heart disease later in life. Thus, early diagnosis and treatment with intravenous immunoglobulin and acetylsalicylic acid as soon as possible are important.
