Summary:The paper deals with the problem of iconicity in a poetic text. On the example of lingvopoetic analysis of poems by H. M. Enzensberger, G. Falkner and B. Tyumler written in free rhythms, the expansion of functional potential in the contemporary  German-language  poetry  of  such  traditional  rhythmic  and  syntactic  figure  as  enjambements  is demostrated. As evidenced by the results of the research, enjambements in modern free rhythms are endowed with the ability to label graphically the spatial semantics of locative verbs, and thus become an iconic sign, not only illustrating the relationship between form and content of a poetic expression, but also emphasizing the vertical dimension of the text and indicating its verse nature.
