Description
Summary:The action of the Italian socialists in São Paulo, during the period of Italian workers migration to Brazil, particularly between the last decade of 19th century and the Thirties, has been little considered by social and politics historiography. Against the idea of the anarchist preponderance in the working-class movement in São Paulo, this article studies and stresses the contribution of the Italian socialist immigrants in the making of workers’ organizations and movements in São Paulo, with an analytic perspective that deals with the dialectics, many times conflicting, between diverse national, class and ethnic identities and societies.
