Summary:First steps for the italian Geodetic and Cartographic Agency A conference held in the italian Senate on march 19 saw the introduction of the first draft law dedicated entirely to the re-institution of a Geodetic and Cartographic Agency in Italy. The previous Geodetic Commission, presumed to be futile, was dissolved in the 70's, shifting geographical information and data management issues to single regions and private organisations and agencies. This resulted in the disastrous mismanagement of data which has become increasingly apparent in the past few years.
