Summary: | The United States of America, which leads an international coalition that invaded Iraq on March 20, 2003, announced that it had completed its military operation in the country on 16/4/2003. The Pentagon has announced the end of hostilities and the start of reconstruction and humanitarian assistance in Iraq. For this reason, a military administration headed by J. Garner, later turned into the so-called Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), formed "the Authority" on May 8, 2003, the date on which the United States and Britain sent a letter to the President of the Security Council including a declaration that they were responsible for the administration of Iraq as occupying States. |
