Summary:Neonatal lupus (NL) is a syndrome diagnosed in neonatal infants, whose mothers frequently suffer from autoimmune rheumatic diseases, manifested by two major signs: skin lesion and cardiac lesion. The paper gives data from the history of a description of the syndrome, as well as current ideas on its pathogenesis, considers both typical and rarer clinical manifestations of the disease, and presents approaches to NL therapy and prevention.
